From the Pastor

There was a time when there were two church named St. Paul in Manchester.  One was connected with the Evangelical Association and the other was a United Brethren Church. And then the time came the denominations merged to become the Evangelical United Brethren Church.  And wisdom called those two churches to merge as well, which created what is now the St. Paul United Methodist Church.

St. Paul Church exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ by sharing the love of Christ through worship, fellowship, mission, and ministry.  We lift up our core values of prayer, Bible study, worship, missions, evangelism, fellowship, and stewardship.  Through those core values, we have established a loving, caring, supportive environment that serves as a home base through which we can make disciples.

St. Paul Church has a strong history of being a people of God stepping out in faith to make a difference in the world around us.  But we also look to the Lord speaking through prophet Isaiah saying, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19See, I am doing a new thing!” (Isaiah 43:18-19a)  That says that even though we have had a glorious past, we expect our future to be so much more.  That hope is not based on who we are and what we can do, but on whose we are and what God can do.

We are the people of God who meet in Manchester at the place called St. Paul.  We gather in the presence of God, are transformed by the grace of Jesus Christ, empowered by the Spirit God and go forth in the name of God preach the gospel of Jesus Christ with our words and deeds. We believe that as we faithfully go forth, God’s kingdom will grow in us and through us.  We believe that by sharing the love of Christ in practical ways, many will come into God’s kingdom, will become disciples, and our purpose will be fulfilled day by day.

We invite you to join us in our journey in life and faith that together we can make a difference; that together we will be blessed by one another, and by the very hand of God.

A servant in Christ,

Lead Pastor
