This year long focus is based on the following response Jesus gave when he was asked about what the greatest commandment was. 37 He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Loving God Quest – We are pursuing our Love for God by reading through the entire bible together as a community in one year. The sermons each Sunday in worship will be taken from our shared reading of the previous week. We will also engage in conversation and questions during weekly bible study in-person and via zoom. Loving Others Quest – Each person in our worship community is being encouraged to pursue a micro-ministry with one or two individuals during our Quest. This is simply identifying one or two people who don’t know Jesus, or who have not been actively pursuing their faith and find something you could do together on a regular basis that you both enjoy. (taking a walk, gardening, golfing, playing pickleball, catching up on the phone, playing penuckle, …) During this time your job is meet with them regularly to pray for their best interest, and to show them love. As you build a relationship, if they ask, share openly about your faith. Invite them to join you at church or events or worship as it feels appropriate. That’s it. They can be friends, family members, neighbors or people who just like the same activity you do. Start thinking about it now, what is your micro ministry, who will you pour your love into over the coming year for Jesus? |
